ESPN streaming service will cost $30/month, launch ‘early fall’

Disney has officially announced two of the most important details of its upcoming ESPN flagship streaming service: the name and price. Here’s what’s coming.

New ‘ESPN’ streaming service is a premium price, but bundling helps

As leaked late last week, the new ESPN flagship streaming service will be called, simply, ‘ESPN.’

Disney confirmed the name this morning to reporters ahead of its Upfront presentation later today.

But another, equally important detail was shared too: ESPN’s price.

When the new ESPN streamer launches this fall, you’ll be able to choose from two options:

  • ESPN: $29.99/month
  • ESPN with Disney+ and Hulu in bundle: $35.99/month

Additionally, Disney has announced that the bundle will be available at a discounted rate for a limited-time $29.99 price. This lower rate is available for up to 12 months.

That low-cost bundle includes ads on Disney+ and Hulu, but an ad-free version will be available for $44.99.

In any case, if you’re interested in ESPN, getting the Disney bundle is very much the way to go.

For those unfamiliar, ESPN’s new streaming service will offer the fullest ESPN experience. Unlike the current ESPN+ service, which will continue being available, the standalone ESPN contains all the flagship programming from ESPN’s cable channels and more.

The unlimited plan will give fans access to all of ESPN’s linear networks – ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes – in addition to ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+, and ACCNX, covering 47,000 live events each year, on-demand replays, studio shows, original programming, and more.

It’s a true direct-to-consumer ESPN product, not an add-on secondary service like ESPN+.

Though a specific release date was not shared today, ESPN is going to launch in “early fall.” No doubt it will arrive before Monday Night Football’s debut in September.

What do you think about the price for ESPN’s new streaming service? Let us know in the comments.
