Trying to make a payment using your iPhone? You might need to use a third-party service, as Apple Cash appears to be down, and Apple Pay looks to be struggling too.
Update: Apple’s system status page marks all issues as resolved around 1:00 p.m. Eastern.
Apple Pay outages appear to have started around 11 a.m. Eastern
Many users on social media have reported being unable to use Apple Pay today.
Based on the reports, the issue seems to affect both Apple Pay and Apple Cash.
These problems appear to have started shortly after 11:00 a.m. Eastern.
I have verified that Apple Cash isn’t working for me or many other iPhone users.

Apple Pay, however, appears to be a problem too. Personally, I had an Apple Pay transaction fail after a long delay around 11:50 a.m. then it worked after a re-try shortly thereafter.
Reports online, however, indicate plenty of users are unable to make Apple Pay payments at all.
Apple has not yet updated its system status page to note the outages. But we will update you when we get confirmation. [Update 12:36 p.m.: Apple’s page now acknowledges ongoing issues with Apple Pay, Apple Cash, Apple Card, and Wallet.]
For those unfamiliar with Apple’s marketing terms for these various features:
- Apple Pay is the feature you use when shopping at merchants, and is compatible with a variety of credit and debit cards.
- Apple Cash is a peer-to-peer payment option generally used for paying friends and family, similar to Venmo.
- Apple Card is an Apple-branded credit card.
- Wallet is the iPhone app where your various Apple Pay cards and Apple Cash are all found.
